The Benefits of Guest Mode
For shared Chromebooks, such as those used in group homes or schools, Guest Mode is a recommended option for accessing services. It provides a secure environment by automatically clearing all browsing data and logins once the session is closed. This minimizes the risk of sensitive information being stored on the device.
Why Guest Mode is Safer
•No Saved Logins: Guest Mode doesn’t save your login credentials, ensuring that services like Outlook, CareLogic, or other sensitive systems remain secure.
•Temporary Browsing Session: Every session in Guest Mode is isolated, meaning no data from previous users is accessible.
•Reduces Risk of Data Breaches: Without stored credentials or saved browsing data, there’s less chance of unauthorized access.
When to Use Guest Mode
Guest Mode is ideal for:
•Accessing services that require sensitive data, such as email, client records, or company systems.
•Environments where multiple users share the same device, like group homes or classrooms.
How to Use Guest Mode
1.Open the Chromebook and click Browse as Guest on the login screen.
2.Use the device as needed for accessing services.
3.Close the session when finished; all data will be erased automatically.
Key Tip
While Guest Mode is a secure option for shared devices, always log out of your accounts when finished and double-check that sensitive data has been cleared. If you’re unsure about using Guest Mode or need assistance, contact IT for guidance.
