How to Request VPN Access

VPN access requests must be submitted by your supervisor and approved before being granted. Each user is issued a FortiToken for enhanced security, ensuring we minimize external risks and protect sensitive data.

When Do You Need VPN?

VPN is essential for:

•Regular Remote Workers: Securely connect to your desktop and manage work-related tasks.

•Instant Access: Work securely from anywhere with Wi-Fi.

•Sensitive Tasks: Access files or systems that require heightened security.

When VPN May Not Be Needed

In some cases, such as snow days or occasional remote work, VPN may not be required. Additionally, you typically don’t need VPN for:

•Checking email.

•Completing Relias courses.

•Using Smartsheets or Brightwheel.

Important Reminder for Chromebook Users

Chromebooks automatically reset after several weeks of inactivity as a security measure. If your device resets, it will need to be reprogrammed and brought into IT. Regularly use your device if you are required to be available for remote work to avoid unnecessary disruptions.

Check with Your Supervisor

Always consult your supervisor to confirm if VPN is necessary for your specific remote work situation and tasks. Our policy requires regular remote workers to connect to VPN to maintain compliance and security.
